Twanda Turner-Hawkins is Corporate Counsel for Allstate Insurance Company responsible for Litigation, Process Management and Litigation Administration in Northbrook, Illinois. She began her career with Allstate as a claim adjuster. She completed her Law School Degree at Georgia State College of Law. She joined Allstate’s Staff Counsel Operation in Atlanta, Georgia as a trial attorney; managed hundreds of cases as the lead attorney; and tried over 50 jury trials. Twanda is licensed in Georgia, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. She has argued before the Georgia Supreme Court.
Twanda was Lead Counsel for Allstate’s Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia offices. Subsequently, she was promoted to Managing Attorney for Allstate Insurance for the state of Pennsylvania. As the managing attorney, she oversaw staffing, business administration, leadership development, and training as a department head. Her paperless efforts reduced real estate cost by twenty-five percent and reduced reliance upon paper supplies, and postage by fifty percent for her department.
Currently, Twanda is Corporate Counsel for Allstate responsible for litigation administration, processes, and procedures including but not limited records information management, compliance, budgets, and creating a paperless law department. Additionally, Twanda is responsible for litigation the company in TCPA, FACTA, Trademark, Allstate Life and Benefits, and Contract litigation including class actions.
Twanda is the Chair of the National Bar Association (NBA) Corporate Law Section and the Immediate Past Chief of Operations. She has a laser sharp focus on a mission of members moving to the General Counsel Level and serving on Corporate Boards of major corporations providing networking and educational programing and conferences throughout the year. The Section was recognized as NBA 2016 Section of the Year. Additionally, Twanda is a recipient of the 2016 NBA Presidential Award. Twanda serves on the advisory board of the Claim Litigation Management Association Staff Counsel Section; and she is a course planner. She is a member The Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia, serving on the advisory board, and the Board of Governors for the National Bar Association. She is a Fellow of the American Bar Association Foundation. She travels nationally to serve as speaker or moderator on topics impacting corporate lawyers. Twanda served as a faculty member and course planner for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute teaching continuing legal education courses on “How to Go Paperless” in a law firm and “Litigation for Young Lawyers”. She is a board member of Chosen 300 dedicated to serving the homeless in Philadelphia and around the world. Finally, she is the founder and owner of The Executive Fitness Expert dedicated to the health and physical fitness of busy professionals.
